We got back to winning ways – finally – at Fratton Park yesterday after the 3-1 win over Derby, and Harry Redknapp has told The News that so much of this was down to the crowd: ‘the supporters were brilliant today too. We went a goal behind but they got behind us still.

‘It was nice to here them back me too. They’re a great bunch of fans’.

As we all know it looked as though he could leave us for Newcastle recently, but he stayed and in his programme notes yesterday said he was ‘Pompey till I die’, something which sky sports asked him about, to which he replied: ‘that’s right, I am official now.

‘I love being here and the fans have been good to me since I came back and I enjoy coming to work every day at Portsmouth so there’s no need for me to change now, this is definitely my last stop’.

I had said last week – as had many, many others – that if that decision had not convinced people of his loyalty to Pompey and could not convince those that still had trouble accepting his return to do so, then nothing would…

I will alter that thought and say if those programme notes and the thoughts that followed have not finally once and for all changed people’s opinion then really, nothing ever will!
