Harry Redknapp has today taken time to speak to The Sunday Mirror to again stress his future lies with Pompey.

He says that he will stay with Pompey until he retires as ‘this is my team and my club and I don’t want to stop at winning the FA Cup, I want to build and move on.’

He did admit once again to being tempted by one or two of the offers but he will finish his managerial days here, but not just yet as he wants to – as said – build on the FA cup success: ‘any unfulfilled dreams I have left in football can be achieved here. This is where I belong and this is where I want to finish.

‘It would have been easy to walk away in the past year and I don’t think anyone would have had any real complaints.

‘But, as tempting as the offers were, I couldn’t have lived with myself. There would have been a massive sense of betrayal.’

If anyone can build on winning the FA cup then Redknapp can, but for now I am happy to carry on basking in the glory of being cup holders – if anything else comes along it will be even better…

Responding to claims that Arsene Wenger made the other day about Lassana Diarra ‘panicking’ when making his decision to join Pompey in January, Diarra has made claims that ‘promises’ were made to him that were not kept, that is why he moved on, with him telling The News of the World: ‘I really can’t understand why Mr Wenger is choosing to make such a fuss over me again.

‘Why does he not move on? He speaks about me more than when I was there. It’s a very strange one.

‘Do you really think I would leave a side like Chelsea to join Arsenal if certain promises were not made? I did not panic but wanted to play as promised.’

However he believes fully justified in his decision too move on by the fact that he picked up a cup winners medal last weekend: ‘Portsmouth winning the FA Cup has more than justified my decision to make the move from Arsenal back in January.’

As said after what Wenger said, am I – or any other Pompey fan – really that bothered by why he joined us or not? The only think that I am bothered about is the fact that he did sign, and all being well he will stay for a while yet!

Hopefully this will end ‘the debate’ that the pair have had, and all can finally move on…

Sidney Govou was a name that was ‘linked’ with Pompey last summer, and he is again now with it claimed that Redknapp was at the French cup final at the weekend, with the French international one of the players he was watching.

Govou, who scored the winning goal for Lyon, operates as a winger or a striker, so could fill one of two rolls for us. It is said that he is ‘ready to open a new chapter in his career’ after 8 years with Lyon…

Amara Diane was on display, playing for Paris St-Germain, and the striker is said to be another that he was ‘looking at’.

He would cost a reported £5m, and is being ‘heavily linked’ with a move to England, with Newcastle one of the clubs thought to be interested.
