Pompey will play Chelski at Fratton this summer in a pre-season friendly, the first 100% confirmed friendly scheduled by my reckoning – although the Bournemouth fixture will now be penned in following their failure to secure promotion.
I would assume that everyone has heard about Chelski coming to town, if not where have you been…
This will take place in mid July and is quite a coup really because bringing such a club to Fratton ‘should’ mean that plenty of people are drawn through the Fratton gates and every little helps us at the moment!

Pompey To Host Chelsea In Pre Season Friendly
We are very pleased to announce that Pompey will host Chelsea at Fratton Park as part of their pre-season schedule.
The London side, who sit second in the Premier League table, will visit Portsmouth on Saturday, July 16 in the first meeting between the sides since the 2010 FA Cup final.
Pompey chief executive David Lampitt said: “We are delighted to welcome Chelsea to Fratton Park.
“It is fantastic to attract a side of their calibre down here. They’re one of the biggest clubs in the country and it promises to be an entertaining match.
“We are very much looking forward to giving them a traditionally warm welcome back to Fratton Park.”
Tickets for the match, which kicks-off at 3pm, will go on sale to all fans at 10am on Tuesday, June 21.
Seats bought in advance will cost £15 for adults and £10 for seniors (60+) & young persons (17-20), while children (16 and under) can watch the game for just £1.
Tickets bought at the stadium on the day of the game will be £20 for adults and £15 for concessions. Child tickets will remain at only £1.
Pompey last faced Chelsea a little over a year ago at Wembley. That afternoon Carlo Ancelotti’s men beat the Blues 1-0 with Didier Drogba’s second-half goal securing the trophy for the Londoners while both sides missed penalties – the first time that has happened in FA Cup final history.
