It could appear that the early thoughts that people had that Pompey have already qualified to go on a European tour were a touch premature? well at least if Michel Platini gets his way!
As the rules currently stand as Cardiff are members of the FAW – Football Association of Wales – and not the FA they would not be allowed to represent the FA in the uefa cup so the thought was that Pompey would qualify regardless of the result on May 17th, however Platini is not willing to let this matter go without a fight and has suddenly discovered that he has Welsh roots so he has ‘pledged to help the club with their bid’. It is thought that he wants to allow them a ‘wildcard’ entry into the uefa cup if they won the cup, and if they did we would miss out.
The easiest thing for us to do is just go out and win the FA cup then no matter what Platini and his friends at uefa do it does not matter – we would be in!
I am not going into that game thinking ‘we have already won’, as that would be stupid and that kind of attitude would see us lose and probably rightfully so, but to be honest I am not thinking I reckon we might lose?
