Nathan Thompson’s performance was seen as the best one from a Pompey player against Rotherham in the defeat in South Yorkshire at the weekend.

Having been asked to vote – based on your experience of the game as a watching one at the New York Stadium or listening on the radio – with 40% Thompson got this ahead of a trio of players on 20% – Luke McGee, Christian Burgess and Sylvain Deslandes – to win the Vital Pompey MotM poll.

What the poll asked – Rotherham MotM

How you voted – Thompson 40%
McGee 20%
Burgess 20%
Deslandes 20%
Close 0%
Donohue 0%
Lowe 0%
Naismith 0%
Kennedy 0%
Pitman 0%
Sub – Ronan 0%
Sub – Hawkins 0%
Clarke 0%

It wasn’t a game I could follow as I didn’t go to the New York Stadium, it wasn’t listened to on the radio either as I was working, so I’ll have to back the judgement of those that opted for Thompson, which made it his second successive VP Man of the Match win – can he make it a hat trick against Shrewsbury on Saturday?!

We’ll soon move onto that game, which will become focus of a poll, but the current one is based on Danny Rose, who looks as though he’ll soon be putting pen to paper on a new contract at Fratton, despite the fact he’s recovering from a broken leg.

So, we’re looking for your views, as always, on what you think and how you feel about his situation? That requires you to vote on the latest poll – on the front pages or in the forum – in one of ways given.

What the poll is asking – Should Danny Rose get a new deal?

Options to vote – Yes, get it done ASAP
Yes, once he’s proven his fitness
No, regardless of his injury
I’ll sit on the fence – KJ knows best

As things stand there’s little doubting the fact Rose should sign a new deal, in fact the vast majority believe this should be signed at the earliest possible moment. However, this could still change depending on further votes cast…
