Pompey is a worthwhile investment…

…and in relation to others ‘could’, dare I even say actually would, prove a bargain!

On the way up to Blackburn at the weekend we were discussing if we would be sold this summer, and how we do need this, but were not sure that we would as who wants to buy a club that is losing money – and always will unless things change – that does not have the stadium and facilities in place that others do.

The likes of Newcastle and West Ham are clubs that would be more ‘worthwhile’ buying as they have stadiums and training facilities in place and so on, but their major downfall are both are £200m-£300m in debt, ‘apparently’…

Look at it this way, we may well be in debt but is it anywhere near the amount that they are? ‘If’ our debt was to that amount, not that it would ever have been allowed to escalate to that amount, we would be screwed, strike that up a certain creek! So that question answers itself.

We need a new stadium, or at least need this redevelopment of Fratton to go through – as it is said it will – and of course the training facilities are a must but when these areas are done, especially the redevelopment/stadium move, we then start to have a club that can actually bring in money from other means – until we can do that we will always lose money, ‘if’ paying top wages to top players of course without a doubt.

The costs of doing what is needed at Pompey, and clearing debts, would make Pompey a cheaper alternative to those that are £200m or more in debt, surely?

Our geographical location is also a plus point that works in our favour, Portsmouth is a growing City and is not far from London either is it, and London is a major draw to many so this works in our favour.

Yep, and I know I could have a degree of bias about me, but when you do stop and think about it so long as those coming in to invest go about things in the right way we are a club that could prove a bargain investment and certainly a worthwhile one, as the potential is there, and has been for some time, although the longer it takes for someone to come in the more this potential is lost…
