Pompey Hall of Fame evening

A Pompey Hall of Fame evening is being held at Fratton on Saturday 28th March. A friend on mine, Ken – you know the FSF one I keep mentioning! – was contacted by a fella called Jake Payne about this event.

Ken forwarded the email to me and I said to Jake that I would share this info on Vital Pompey, so I am!

This is what was said:

‘I wanted to contact you about the PFC ‘Hall of Fame’ evening which is taking place on Saturday 28th March in The Victory Lounge at Fratton Park. I have been trying for a while to get the club to hold an event to honour past players and they have finally given me the go ahead. Most of the club ‘bashes’ are out of the reach of most fans so I insisted that this evening be accessible to the various fans groups and supporters clubs. I have also said that in the current climate we must keep the cost down so I have sourced local companies to sponsor the event so it can be subsidised.

I was hoping that the Pompey South West Supporters Club would be interested in attending? You will get a table for ten at the cost of £300 (£30 quid a head obviously.) For this you get a three-course meal, followed by the awards ceremony then disco and bar till 12.00.

We have picked this date because it is an international weekend and Pompey are not playing. As you well know England are playing a friendly against Slovakia that day kicking off at 5.15 so if you are going to that you could be knackered because the doors open at 7.00 with dinner starting at 7.30.

I hope you can get some interest though. If you can get ten people I will need the money by 14th March then I can post you the tickets.

It is a ‘posh’ do so the blokes will have to wear jackets, no jeans or trainers! If you would like to stay over for the evening the Etap Hotel behind the Fratton End is up and running now were you can book a room for £35.00 a night.

I got back to Jake again myself and he gave me some more info, and this is the itinerary for the evening:

7.00… Doors open.
7.30… Dinner is served.
9.30… Hall of Fame ceremony.
10.30… Musical entertainment with DJ.
12.00… Bar closes.

Remember this is a ‘no trainers and jeans’ do, but for £30 a head this is not too bad is it?

As Jake said he needs the money, and confirmation, for the club to issue tickets by March 14th – if you commit I will need this commitment honoured, and money paid up front.
