Tonight’s Caring Cup 2nd Round draw pitches League Two side Hereford United against Premiership Pompey.
Seeded Pompey came out of the hat first to secure a 2nd Round clash with conquerors of Charlton Athletic, Hereford United in a game to take place at Fratton Park in the week commencing August 24.
Pompey have only faced Hereford nine times in competitive fixtures, with the most recent match also being in the league cup in 1983/84 in which Pompey won a two legged tie 5-4 on aggregate.
Prior to that, two apiece from Alan Biley and Billy Rafferty saw Pompey progress as 4-1 victors to the 2nd Round of the FA Cup in November 1982.
Famous players that have transferred between the two clubs include Bobby Kellard, Steve Davey, Colin Sullivan, Joe Laidlaw, Peter Mellor, Phil Roberts, Derek Showers and Roy Smith.
Whereas Paul Gilchrist, Chris Price and Kevin Russell wore both the blue of Pompey and white of Hereford in between spells elsewhere.
