It would not be a transfer window without Gary O’Neil ‘linked’ with a return to Pompey would it?

And sure enough today The Sun says ‘Gary O’Neil will return to Portsmouth on loan from Middlesbrough,’ going on to add ‘he will be joined by fellow midfielder Razvan Cocis from Lokomotiv Moscow.’

Razvan Cocis is the Romanian guy that we are ‘meant’ to have already agreed a contract with as he is a free agent following the end of his contract with the Russian side – so that I could see as a very strong possibility.

As for O’Neil, who knows…

I am pretty sure that he recently extended his contract, but I also think that this was due to Boro ‘taking up an option’ to do this. I do also seem to recall that he did not seem overly enthusiastic about this at the time though.

Much like ‘links’ to the likes of Joey Barton, who has been ‘linked’ with the last 3 Pompey managers, this is probably just ‘rehashed paper talk’ to be honest.

A player that is on his way again though is Paris Cowan-Hall.

The teenager has now recovered from illness and will return to Grimsby on loan for the rest of the season.
