Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

3/1/1906: Jimmy Easson
3/1/1934: Rees Thomas
3/1/1944: John Milkins
3/1/1976: Angelos Basinas

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Jimmy Easson, Rees Thomas, John Milkins and Angelos Basinas – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Easson was well before my time and unknown to me – the same applies to Thomas and Milkins. However, I do know of Milkins by name though and stories people have told.

Basinas is the one I recall well. It didn’t – for whatever reason, maybe change of managers didn’t help – really work for him with Pompey but he was a decent footballer who probably warranted more of a chance than he got?

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 16
Won – 4
Drawn – 3
Lost – 9

I do recall a good few of the games and can claim the most recent at Fratton Park. A defeat to Hull in 2011 and the FA Cup third round draw with Bristol City in 2009 as we defended our defence of the competition won the previous May.

What are your memories of Easson – too early for anyone, Thomas, Milkins – both possibly before the time of most – and/or Basinas from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
