A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama.

No Pompey games have previously played on this day.

Due to this lack of games, well, none of them it will be straight onto the other feature – again courtesy of PompeyRama – looking at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

30/7/1950: Tony Macken
30/7/1963: Neil Webb

Happy birthday to Tony Macken and Neil Webb – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Both Macken – who I cannot claim to know anything about – and Webb were Pompey players before my time.

I do know of Webb well enough from his footballing career and saw him play plenty of times for the likes of Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and England. However, his time at Fratton Park was before mine watching the Blues regularly.

What are your memories of Macken and/or Webb from their Pompey days?
