Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

29/11/1907 Septimus Rutherford
29/11/1940 Frank Haydock
29/11/1944: Mike Trebilcock
29/11/1963: Kenny Black
29/11/1977: Eddie Howe

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Septimus Rutherford, Frank Haydock, Mike Trebilcock, Kenny Black and Eddie Howe – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Rutherford, who was a player well before the time of anyone on here, isn’t a name I’m aware of at all to be honest – the only Rutherford I know is the British Olympian Greg.

Trebilcock, known by name but well before my time, had a great reputation. Haydock, who isn’t someone I’m familiar, was another long before I was watching the Blues.

Meanwhile, Black, whilst also known to me by name and reputation, was also another I wasn’t able to see play for us.

I didn’t see much of Howe as a Pompey player – then again few would – but he’s certainly proven himself as a manager hasn’t he. Unless his standards drop, or the Blues’ stock rises considerably once more again, a person touted as a ‘future manager’ at Fratton Park isn’t that likely to be so is he? More like an England manager now.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 11
Won – 1
Drawn – 3
Lost – 7

Again I recall a few of these; however I cannot claim being in attendance for any as I draw a blank.

What are your memories of Rutherford – too early for anyone, Haydock, Trebilcock, Black and/or Howe from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
