Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

26/2/1957: Alan Biley
26/2/1970: Fitzroy Simpson
26/2/1971: Ceri Hughes
26/2/1979: Pedro Mendes

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Alan Biley, Fitzroy Simpson, Ceri Hughes and Pedro Mendes – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Biley was before my time but I do know of him well. Remember Simpson, very well and Hughes well enough.

However, who will, or should, ever forget Mendes. Had it not been for him Pompey would have almost certainly dropped out of the Premier League sooner! Perhaps things wouldn’t have worked out ‘as bad’ for the Blues but plenty of memorable memories wouldn’t have happened either.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 15
Won – 7
Drawn – 3
Lost – 5

Another where I recall a fair few but as the most recently was a midweek games – I stopped doing midweek a few years back – I draw a blank.

What are your memories Biley, Simpson, Hughes and/or Mendes from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
