Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

24/8/1957: Ken Todd
24/8/1967: Michael Thomas

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Ken Todd and Michael Thomas – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Todd and Thomas and were both at Pompey before my time and the former is in fact one I’m that familiar with at all.

However, Thomas, on loan with the Blues early in his career, is a player known very well from my youth with the likes of Arsenal – few will ever forget that dramatic title winning last gasp goal he scored for the Gunners in 1989 – and Liverpool.

That goal, against a future club, remains one of the most dramatic moments in English football history.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 16
Won – 8
Drawn – 5
Lost – 3

Plenty of games, which have resulted in eight wins from the 16 played with only 3 defeats.

But, surprisingly, I’ve only managed the one myself in the past… that being a penalty shootout win against Crystal Palace at Fratton Park in the League Cup in 2010.

What are your memories of Todd and/or Thomas from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
