Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day…

24/8/1967: Michael Thomas
24/8/1957: Ken Todd

From the ed…

The two birthday’s, Todd isn’t one known to me and although Thomas I know very well I certainly remember him from his Arsenal fame and didn’t see him for us during his loan.

A really good day for Pompey traditionally, from the 16-matches played only the 3 defeats and even the last one of those came in 1968! 8 wins and 5 draws, although technically one of those ‘draws’ ended as a win in a penalty shootout!

That aforementioned penalty shootout, Palace in 2010 in the league cup is my only game previously on this day – also my first ‘at the game’ experience of penalty shootout as had only ever seen one on the box or heard it on the radio before…the Charity Shield one against United aside, as that one didn’t count as it wasn’t exactly ‘competitive’ was it.

Have you taken in any of the games and have any memories?
