Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

21/3/1992: Kieron Freeman

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Kieron Freeman – the Pompey player from the Blues’ past born on this day.

What a strange spell Freeman had at Fratton Park with him, quite frankly awful! But he returned to Sheffield United and had – after initially being transfer listed – been a key player in their bid to win League One the year after!

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 19
Won – 6
Drawn – 4
Lost – 9

Having had a couple of days where Pompey had won more than anything else we return to the norm as the Blues have plenty more than anything else.

I remember the most recent but didn’t do the one against Wimbledon. However, I can claim a couple. These being the win over Everton in 2009 and a – with a win against the Saints recalled that was sandwiched between – victory over West Brom in 2000, both at Fratton Park.

What are your memories Freeman from his Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

  • 1978 was probably the worst home performance I have seen. Some of the goals conceded were farcical and the crowd were even cheering the Argyle goals as they went in. One was a Pompey throw-in missed by keeper Steve Middleton the ball hit the post and Fred Binney rolled the ball home!!!

Strangely we have met Plymouth three times on this day and lost them all.

  • 15,09,04&78….15 was to tick Kingstonian off my list, awful performance…09 good win v Everton,04 one of my favourite ever home games that elusive first big v Scum & the hailstone that pounded them that aft…& 78 an awful performance as mentioned above that was jeered…saw Freeman play ( got sent off as well I think)…

  • Freeman did get a red during his time at Fratton. He was a good player and proved it when back at the Blades.
