Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

15/1/1895: William Probert
15/1/1907: Cyril Joliffe
15/1/1927: Marcel Gaillard
15/1/1976: Kevin Harper
15/1/1983: Jermaine Pennant

From the Ed

Happy birthday to William Probert, Cyril Joliffe, Marcel Gaillard, Kevin Harper and/or Jermaine Pennant – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Probert, Joliffe and Gaillard were all well before my time and not really known to me. Harper had his moments but will always divide the fans as perhaps Pennant did too? I’ll never forgive his – Pennant’s – refusal to acknowledge the fans when he went off in the last game of the season at Wigan before his contract ended. What an arrogant so and so.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 11
Won – 3
Drawn – 2
Lost – 6

I do recall the most recent games but can only claim one – a defeat to Wolves at Fratton Park back in 2000.

What are your memories of Probert, Joliffe, Gaillard – all too early I would think – Harper and/or Pennant from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
