Nugent to Derby – okay then

Just when you think you have seen it all the Daily Mirror today serves us up what they say would be ‘the most sensational transfer of the summer’ with David Nugent heading off to Derby for £6m.

After just 2 starts and a substitute appearance, his ‘axing’ from the starting line up against Bolton on Saturday is seen as a ‘green light’ for Billy Davies – who managed him at Preston – to make his move to bring the best out of the England man.

An ‘initial approach’ over the weekend was not ‘discouraged’ so the Mirror went on to say ‘if Derby can agree a fee – and he is cleared to go – then Nugent is likely to pack his bag quickly’.

Yep, of course he is!

Nugent wants to make it as a Premiership player, he sees his long term future in this league, but a move to Derby is not that likely to see this adventure last too long is it. You see come crazy theories in the papers but this has to be one of the most ridiculous in Pompey’s recent tabloid history does it not?
