Nugent moves on

It will not come as a surprise to anyone really will it, but Dave Nugent’s Pompey career is now officially over.

This, his PFC career being over, is something that has seemed likely so many times from virtually the minute he signed – in fact it was touch and go if it would even begin – but having come to the end of his contract officially on Friday he has now completed a free transfer move to Leicester.

To be honest with you I am not ‘gutted’ that he has left by any means, that said if the money had been right and he was used as an out-and-out-striker I would not have been against him staying…

I could be totally wrong here but from the outside looking in it looks very much as though money has swayed his decision making process?

Its hard to believe that any other of the ‘interested clubs’ could have, or would have, offered anything like what Leicester will now be paying him so I cannot help but think the money is something that Nugent has followed here?

Given the players they are being ‘linked with’ and have already signed, and I suspect will sign further, a feeling on déjà vu is something that I cannot help but think he will be facing down the line in his 3-year contract.

What is the saying, ‘the grass is not always greener on the other side!’ Perhaps this is something that he will find out?

Hey ho, that is, or could be, his worry…
