No problems for a new stadium now then?

Year after year, or more to the point decade after decade talk of Pompey moving to a new home came and went – and still we wait…

Were the problems seriously due to ‘disrupting habitats’, ‘security fears’ or ‘council objections’, which was the main favourite…or did it just boil down to the fact that we did not have the finances to do this? Or, to be fair a combination of the lot!

Either way, and touch wood the Dr SAF takeover goes through smoothly – as I believe it will – we should have the finances for this in the future but more importantly 100% unquestionably appear to have the support of Portsmouth City Council!

We must have the support of Portsmouth City Council, as the Pompey Site has announced that PCC have ‘officially announced their intention to become a host city for the 2018 FIFA World Cup,’ so this cannot be an argument against this anymore, right?

Put it this way, no stadium meeting the requirements means no host city!

As much as we love Fratton Park this does not, and will not, meet requirements even with the proposed redevelopment – so, if we have the funds to do this, or at least contribute towards it as the suggestion is the FA are willing to stump up a large amount, then come 2018 if England wins the bid to stage the World Cup, and Pompey wins a host city bid, we finally get this move without question, right?
