There was some talk over the weekend that we were still keeping tabs on Thiago Motta, and he ‘might’ still sign despite him failing to secure a deal with Pompey earlier in the summer after a trial.

He did impress but it is said that the possible problems with his knees saw us opt against signing him at the time, but we were keeping tabs on him and could still look to resurrect a deal.

If ‘reports’ are to be believed though it looks as though he is off to Italy with a move to Genoa said to be immanent, if not already completed…

Although our attempts to sign a midfielder could still see Stephen Appiah arrive, as these attempts are still ongoing, despite claims that he had ruled out a move to us last week…

Harry Redknapp has told The News: ‘it hasn’t moved on really. He’s a good player, but I don’t know if I will be able to bring anyone else in.

‘It’s not dead. I tried to buy him a couple of years ago and they were asking for £10m.

‘He’s a good player, but whether I’m in a position to do it, I don’t know.

‘He’s a free agent, but he won’t come cheap. He will be on big money.’

The suggestion last week was that he would go to the highest bidder, which if true is not something that we want as we do not need, or want mercenaries here, but as said at the time with ‘quotes’ you never know what is, and what is not true do you…

‘If’ we can still sign Appiah, and ‘if’ he wants to come here for the football and not the money – not that we have much so could not outbid anyone on that score! – I would still be delighted to have him here!

But, again as previously said lets just wait and see what happens…

Today ‘rumours’ have started circulating that Pompey are not owned by Sacha Gaydamak but, as has been suspected for some time, it is actually his father Arcadi Gaydamak that owns Pompey, with it claimed this is at his own admission…

However Pompey have moved to deny these claims with spokesman Gary Double saying: ‘Portsmouth Football Club is owned 100 percent by Sacha Gaydamak not his father.

‘I have seen a translation of the Israeli article and there is no mention whatsoever in the interview of Portsmouth Football Club.’

Thoughts on all the above please as always guys…
