Mokoena deal not yet done?

Putting aside whatever the thoughts might have been on the signing of Aaron Mokoena – yep I was not overly impressed, nor were too many to be fair, then again I think all in all we also agreed (or would have) that he is a committed player and that commitment ‘could’ help us – another body to our squad was another body…

The South African broke the news of his ‘free transfer to Pompey on a 3-year contract’ on Sunday and this was being officially reported on the official Blackburn website, so you took that as a given!

But the fact that the no one from the club and nothing on the Pompey Site has either confirmed or denied his signing seemed ‘slightly strange’, to say the least – but it turns out that we might not sign him afterall?

The News is this morning reporting that Wolves ‘could’ be trying to hijack the deal, which although could still happen, might not actually be completely agreed as the implication was!

Nothing is ever ‘easy’, ‘cut and dried’ or ‘simple’ with Pompey is it…

Trotting off to the Trotters?

It does make me laugh really, to be fair to Sylvain Distin, although he might have left some uncertainty about his Pompey future the Frenchman did say he ‘expected’ to be a Pompey player next season.

The ‘uncertainty’ in his words has been totally twisted around in the past 24-hours or so, going from the initial ‘I expect to stay but things could change’, which is fair enough, to a media frenzy of ‘reports’ which basically only run with the ‘uncertain part’, which then clearly means he is off without a shadow of a doubt – ok, maybe he could be…

Anyway, The Mail Online this morning is claiming that Bolton are ‘lining up’ a £3m bid for him, which takes them to ‘the head of the queue’ – funnily enough it was the ‘long-term suitors’ Spurs yesterday that were battling it out with Arsenal!

Basel non-committal on Sol talks

Sol Campbell is a near certainty to leave this summer, and the out-of-contract defender has already been ‘linked’ with a move to Basel.

‘Reports’ soon after the weekend game, well even before, were claiming that the Swiss side had offered the veteran a 3-year contract, something that their vice-chairman Bernhard Heusler would not comment on: ‘we are not going to make any statement on the truth of this.’

His future most certainly lies away from Fratton with America and Spain other ‘possible’ destinations.

Well, as always guys you know what to do – leave your thoughts on all below so we can discuss…
