Clinical has been the buzz word around Pompey recently and the Blues definitely showed this on Saturday against Fleetwood to secure a 4-1 win at Fratton Park – a second win in three League One games.

A first half, which in my opinion, didn’t really offer too much, for the majority, ended with the lead taken when Brett Pitman got onto the end of Nathan Thompson’s cross to head home.

The first of the real quality goals came early in the second half when Devante Cole volleyed home to draw Fleetwood level.

However, Jamal Lowe got in to head home from a corner shortly after to restore Pompey’s lead. After Lowe, who pushed further forward in the second half – having quite often found himself behind Thompson – went on a solo run he scored another cracker from a tight angle to extend the lead.

A win was assured when Pitman scored the goal of the afternoon. Picking the ball up on the edge of the box he curled an effort into the top corner – Fleetwood ended with 10 men when Kyle Dempsey collected his second yellow.
