Liverpool keeping an eye on Muntari?

Image for Liverpool keeping an eye on Muntari?

Over the weekend there were a few ‘whispers’ that Liverpool were tracking Sulley Muntari, today these have spread into the Daily Mail online with their reports that they are tracking him if they cannot sign Javier Mascherano.

The whole Mascherano situation itself confuses me… at first I thought they had loaned him from West Ham, then I was lead to believe that they had signed him for a ‘knock down’ £2m or so, but now it appears that if they want him they will have to pay £17m!

So the indication is that Muntari is being lined up as an ‘alternative’, but if Liverpool’s Americans will not ‘sanction’ his signing then I do not know how they will Muntari’s, as they would be looking at something in low double figures at least for him anyway…

It is a funny time of year though isn’t it and these kinds of things crop up around the transfer window time.

One thought is that although Harry Redknapp would be unwilling to sell if Peter Crouch could be used in a cash plus player deal – with the cash coming to Pompey, not the other way! – he might do business, again this is surely unlikely.

Either way The News is reporting that Redknapp has denied such talk, branding it ‘absolute rubbish’.
