Kranjcar facing 2-3 months out!

Pompey have been dealt the blow with the confirmation that Niko Kranjcar is facing an extended spell on the sidelines having undergone surgery on an ankle injury today.

He was injured whilst on international duty with Croatia last week, when he suffered a ruptured ankle ligament. Initially it was hoped it would not be too bad, but he will now be out for 8-12 weeks…

This injury setback should at least put to bed any concerns that he ‘could’ leave before the transfer deadline and will also give the likes of Armand Traore and Jerome Thomas a chance at an extended run in the side – so it is down to them to grasp it.

Clearly we will miss him, but thankfully we were able to bring in some cover on the left side of midfield or we would have been well and truly up the creek without a paddle!

Also, former Pompey winger Franck Songo’o has now found himself a new club.

He has returned to Spain, where he is expected to be announced as a Real Zaragoza player later today…
