Still a fair amount of talking but no actions taking place – but hopefully the positive talks that are being spoken will yield some actions next week, and my ‘negative’, or ‘doomy’ vibe is swaying back to my normal ‘positive’ or ‘glass half full’ vibe and I am optimistic we will see some movement next week…

As we know Liverpool accepted and offer for Jermaine Pennant yesterday, but it is ‘said’ that the winger does not want to come to Pompey – however in a compromise he ‘might’ be willing to join us on loan until the summer. Oh, how very decent of you! I am hearing that our proposal is actually a loan approach anyway, so if that is the case this would suit us anyway… I am still not keen on the fella, but at the end of the day Liverpool would not have signed him if he had not impressed at Birmingham, and of course given a run of games his best would should shown?

Argentinean superstar, or is ‘superstar’ over-hyping Javier Saviola? I do not think so, but maybe I am biased? Anyway, Peter Storrie has confirmed an interest in the player, and by all accounts it is now down to Tony Adams to decide if he actually wants the Madrid man? As unlikely as this deal might seem, or seemed, a spin off of the Lassie deal could make it feasible… ‘Coup of the season’ has been mentioned to me, time will tell if this can be the case!

Edu and Gary O’Neil – the two that I most felt would sign for us! – are off the menu for sure though, with Storrie confirming that Valencia have decided they do not want to sell until the summer, so our proposed loan deal is off. As for O’Neil, Boro have stood firm on their stance on him, and hats off to them for doing so, as much as I would have liked them to have backed down!

Storrie remains insistent that deals are being worked on and expects 4 players to arrive next week, I am more optimistic that we will see some action next week – we better had though as he had promised players by this weekend…
