The ‘expected’, lets face it, ‘January sales’ edge ever closer but somewhat surprisingly Appy, as he told The News, insists that he is ‘not under pressure’ to sell: ‘I am under no pressure whatsoever to sell players.

‘If people want to buy our players then I expect them to ring me first before anyone else. Hopefully, I will be the first to know about it.

‘What I would say which is important is that I have no interest in selling my better players. If people are thinking of trying it, forget it.’

He is not ‘daft enough’ to know that ‘ridiculous amounts’ will not be rejected, nor would he want them to be: ‘I’m not daft enough to turn down ridiculous amounts of money.

‘If people come up with serious offers – and it would have to be serious offers – I might look at it again. But the point I’m making is you won’t get any of our players on the cheap.’

We have little time left now, only a matter of weeks – this much we have been told openly before the ‘money runs out’ – then it is administration again, assuming we still can go into this again?

Even if we do offload players in January we are still just delaying the inevitable, what is abundantly clear is, sell players or not, we must find a new owner, and fast…
