Irish eyes smiling for Henderson

Interest in Stephen Henderson has spread to Ireland…

Nope, Irish clubs are not after the Pompey keeper – not that they could afford him anyway! – it is the Irish national team that have come calling with Giovanni Trapattoni calling the 23-year-old up for international duty at senior level for the first time.

Henderson, a former U15, U16, U17, U19 and U21 international, could now make his senior debut this week against the Czech Republic.

Henderson’s form has not gone unnoticed this season, the call-up for his country is reward for a fine season and will almost certainly see further interest shown in him at club level with the vultures already circling around him, and other star performers at Fratton.

A few extra quid, if nothing else, has probably been added to his value – not that he is in a hurry to leave Pompey anyway!

All being well we can eventually get through the latest crisis at Fratton, keep as many of our ‘assets’ as is possible and look to rebuild this club, once more, with the likes of Henderson the players that I am sure Appy would love to build a team around…
