How bad is the latest Gaydamak dispute?

The ‘rumours’ of another dispute with Sacha Gaydamak first starting going round on Thursday afternoon, I took a phone call about this from a friend just before I left for work.

Not knowing the full story, or certainly not knowing enough – not to mention I had to leave for work – this had to be left.

In all honesty exactly what the issue is still remains unclear, and to me, but what does appear to be the case is, for whatever reason – good or bad – he has commandeered the car park next to Fratton Park. With it was being ‘said’ that he would be charging punters £5 a pop to park there, £10 on match days…

This issue has been ‘resolved’ on a short-term basis so as to not cause any disruptions to Linvoy’s testimonial, the big day today, with it also ‘said’ that a compromise can hopefully be reached for the future.

So, the guy who very much ‘helped’ bring us to our knees will continue to exploit the club, making money at our expense and cost? Although, and as I say I do not know the full picture, it is also being said that he is not looking to ‘profit’ from the club, this could actually be to the clubs ‘benefit’ due to various issues?

Apparently he actually wants this land packaged up as part of the deal for a ‘new owner.’

It is being said that ‘health and safety issues’, with the land being used without a lease or a license, which could cause serious problems to the landowner are the reasons behind these action. And with, I would assume, him being the owner of this land any safety issues would fall at his feet so he is looking to cover himself I guess?

Assuming he does indeed charge for this land – for whatever reason – not only would this mean a loss of revenue for the club, monies charged to park here will now be lost to him, it also means that it ‘could’ actually costs us money as any of our ‘corporate clientele’ will cost us the outlay of £10 each – we cannot very well expect corporate types, or guests, to pay for their parking can we. Then of course there are staff and players that also use these facilities, again they cannot be charged for it, can they…

This will mean that PFC will foot the bill for this, so not only will Gaydamak profit from Portsmouth Football Club again we will actually, and in most cases us the fans, will be the ones putting more money into his sky rocket!

Although his people insist that this, profiting at the clubs expense, is not the case and is not what they are trying to do – merely protecting of themselves appears to be their thoughts.

The Telegraph today ‘claims’ that if a compromise cannot be reached and ‘access to the car park’ is not regained in time for our Fratton opener against Reading, on Saturday August 14th, then the game could be ‘abandoned’.

This, perhaps, is a little extreme, although whatever issues there are clearly need to be resolved…

‘If’ the club are indeed basically acting in the wrong, which given our past you could not put it past them, as much as I do not like to say it ‘technically’ Gaydamak could be right, although given his past I am not sure that I would trust Gaydamak is actually doing something to try and ‘benefit’ the club either?

These days who knows what is and what is not with Portsmouth Football Club, and those associated with it – past and present – anymore eh…
