West Brom manager Roy Hodgson has more or less confirmed that Pompey are indeed interested in Michael Appleton – who has been ‘tipped’ to become our next boss…

In a glowing report, in his post-match press conference today, he pretty much admitted PFC are interested and thinks he will ‘make a big success’ when eventually takes on a managers job as he is ‘ready for a top job’.

He said: ‘Michael is an excellent young coach and we have to accept at West Brom that there are clubs out there who know their business and will target people like Michael because he’s ready for a top job.

‘I’m sure that when Michael takes a top job, he’ll make a big success of it.

‘I think they’re interested in Michael, which I’m not surprised about at all because he is a very good coach.’

If it is to be Appleton then I do hope that we make this appointment next week, ideally sooner rather than later so that it gives him that little bit longer to work with the players – who are not off on international duty – before we take on Watford.

We are at an ideal time to make this appointment and announcement so if Appleton is the man that CSI want lets go and get him…
