Gutierrez would like Pompey move

Jonas Gutierrez is reported as basically telling the Daily Mirror that he wants to sign for Pompey: ‘I know the situation and my position has not changed. If the offer is right then I would like to play in the Premier League.

‘I am convinced I could be a success for a club like Portsmouth and am ambitious to succeed.

‘They have a very good reputation and want to be successful so it is a club that appeals’.

If these quotes are genuine, then he is saying all the right things to get himself a move to Pompey.

Pompey have not hidden an interest in the Argentinean international winger, but Harry Redknapp has been well and truly put off – apparently – by the £7m that Real Mallorca are asking, which is so ‘high’ due to the fact that his previous club Newell’s Old Boys will get 50% of any fee the Spanish side get.

Gutierrez is not a fella I know much about – but I am still fascinated by his Spiderman mask goal celebration stories, they must be on youtube surely? – but if the price can be right, if Redknapp feels he is the winger that we need then you would hope he will be right?

My thinking is that either Gutierrez or Andres D’Alessandro will arrive in the new year, my own preference would still be D’Alessandro to be honest, but this could be because I have always been such a fan of his anyway – but ‘returning’ to an old club is not always a good thing is it…
