Grant reflects on a rare win

Avram Grant knows that we did not play well against Burnley, especially in the 1st half – where we lost out in most areas, but thought we improved in the 2nd half, but the most important thing was that we did win – wins, and not performances are what we need.

After Aruna Dindane missed a 1st half penalty, which he and Kevin-Prince Boateng had fought over it, you thought here we go again! But quite WHY they were arguing over this was strange, surely this is something that should be organised BEFORE a game? Well, not for Grant! He says the players decide this – well, I suggest that they maybe decide this before the game in future eh!

See Grant’s view on the above and more, including thoughts on character and continued belief in ‘miracles’ to keep us up, in this sky sports video below…

To be honest, quite strangely, I came away from this game – despite the win – less convinced than I had been that we would actually stay up! For me, at times I felt that the unity and togetherness that we had seen for most of the season was not there, with this lacking and confidence clearly at a low for most we looked poor, very, very poor in fact.

I think that it is perhaps all the off the field rubbish chipping away and wearing people down, but – and most will know that this is NOT my way of thinking, negatively – if we stay up I think I will be surprised now, even after a win…

At least for once we won after playing so poorly, so that is something to cling to – we have played well most times this season and usually got nothing to show for it, so a poor performances but 3pts cannot be bad can it?
