Expectations managed?

An article from Pompeytim about the importance of managing expectations, if that is not already happening.

A brave new dawn has caused expectations to go sky high.

Despite it being a brand new team again, and a team of freebies, people are expecting a romp.

Season ticket sales are amazing, but due to our debt it’s full impact won’t be felt on the pitch for the next 5 years.

A few weeks ago we were all wishing for the club to survive. Now a budget set at a sustainable level is no longer sufficient & there are already calls to break the budget. Memories are so short!!

However, a nil-nil draw with Braintree & a wake-up call 3-nil defeat to Charlton has probably made a few realise where we are & what a challenge we actually face this season.

Let’s remember what we said only weeks ago:

– we just want a club
– avoiding relegation to non-league would be a success
– we want to never have financial problems again

Wake up Pompey fans!! Smell the coffee!!
