Once again England coach Fabio Capello has called up Pompey trio David James, Glen Johnson and Peter Crouch.

The trio have become regulars in the squad and will be looking to increase their caps during the weekend friendly with Slovakia before the world cup qualifier with Ukraine a week Wednesday – both games are at Wembley.

Should James feature in both that will take him up to 48 caps as he creeps ever closer to the milestone of 50. His biggest rival for the no.1 shirt at the moment appears to be Ben Foster – who despite very, very limited football this season has been called in off the back of his league cup final showing.

Johnson looks a shoe-in to be the first choice right back, so will be hoping to add to his 11 caps, while Crouch currently has 31, scoring 14 goals in the process – his recent goalscoring form, coupled with his form on the whole will be something that he hopes can earn him a start or two?

Whatever happens, and hopefully they can play a part for England, we just need to pray that they – and the rest of our international contingent – return fit and well for the crucial meeting with Hull in a couple of weeks time…
