As we are so ‘strapped for cash’ today’s People has an ‘exclusive’ which is ‘claiming’ that we will be forced into selling Lassana Diarra to Spurs for £12m tomorrow, unless we can offload some on our fringe players instead… Although Dave Nugent is ‘said’ to be close to completing a move to West Brom?
How true this is I could not say, but I hope and pray this is just speculation and nothing more – although if true we can forget any hopes we might have had of seeing us move further forward than we have and should instead brace ourselves for more departures in the future?
Again ‘if’ there is any truth in this whatsoever then we can forget about signing anyone else before midnight tomorrow, even on a free, and should be more concerned about others that might go…
However all we can now do is sit tight and wait and see.
My thoughts above are the worst case scenario but lets not overact or get carried away and start shouting and screaming about this, that and the other as no one, unless you are part of Portsmouth Football Club, which I doubt, knows how true – if at all true this actually is!
With all this said, if we had to keep selling ‘top player’, after player, after player why would you have gone out and purchased Peter Crouch for a club record earlier this summer? We would have known then that we could not afford him, so I am hoping that the Diarra ‘rumours’ are noting more than that, and just typical red top rubbish…
