Deal or no deal? Jon Stewart…

So, we have some 15 players out of contract in the summer (or seeing their loans with Pompey end) it is almost time to decide who deserves a new contract and who does not deserve the drippings from my nose, well ours noses!

I was going to look at them all together, but I think I will do them one at a time… Simple question, and as the bearded one would say, ‘deal or no deal?’

Jon Stewart

I thought he was a strange signing to say the least when ‘he’ signed the keeper when he arrived on a free after being released by Weymouth last summer.

He is not exactly a youngster either is he, but maybe his added experience was brought in more to help guide the keepers younger than he is with their youth and reserve development?

I did not know a lot about him when we signed him, and I still do not. I know he is the butt of Gary Saddlers jokes in his injury round-ups though!

Deal or no deal? No deal.

We are not exactly thin on the ground for keepers are we, even if the almost unthinkable happened and Jamo left.

You could argue the with the ‘inexperienced factor’ with our keepers we need to keep all we can ‘if’ that happened, but does he really have anymore of this than anyone else here, apart from being senior in age?

In Jamo, Ashdown, Begovic and young O’Brien coming through for me we would have more than enough, even if Jamo did go.
