In his latest interview with pfcTV Paul Hart has spoken about a range of things, including the latest international break and how this could impact on our season, good or bad, but arguably most importantly he updates us on Peter Crouch’s injury situation…

This is not anything major to worry about, as he said that the big man had reported some discomfort in his calf, saying it was ‘sore’, which has been confirmed as a ‘very, very minor tear’. England have promised he will be taken care of, and will sit out training as a result and will not take any part in the friendly at the weekend, but he ‘could’ be fit for the world cup qualifier with the Ukraine next week and ‘should not’ really be a doubt for Hull, all being well.

Hart, like all of us, would like to see Crouch play for England, but having him fit for us is the priority but he will be looked after by England, we hope…

The Pompey manager also said it would have been ‘nice to have played another game this weekend’ instead of having the international break, but acknowledged it had been a ‘stop start month’ anyway, what with us being our of the FA cup and having a week off. On the flip side, the fact that some could rest their weary limbs was something that he took comfort in – but feels that those that have gone away with their country, which is most, can manage training wisely and maybe even boost fitness at the same time. Should they win when on international duty they come back in even better spirits anyway – so here is hoping!

We are in the same boat as most others in the premier league though in as much as basically ‘the best will be international standard’, and we want the best doe we not? In which case they will be called away – again something he alluded to, and something that he knows is what we do want to be happening, even if it can be a pain at times.

Hart also mentioned ‘the team spirit’ again, which he maintains is very high, which I think is more than visible with the way we are going on the pitch at the moment, but watch these pfcTV videos and you can visibly see this is the case in training too – everyone looks very much together, Hart is literally putting an arm around players and all looks good…

Emphasis was added to the ‘we are going to be a hard team to beat’ between now and the end of the season – not that expectations are too high with us thinking we are ‘assured’ of anything. Oh, and another thing I saw in this video, Asmir Begovic is looking pretty tasty at the moment as some of the saves he was pulling off were top drawer, again bodes well for the future!
