There were plenty of ‘rumours’ flying around over the weekend that Steve Cotterill had decided to leave Pompey.
His reaction, following the 2-1 defeat at Forest, where he went over to the Pompey fans to applaud them was seen, in some quarters, as Cotterill saying his ‘farewells’ to the fans…
Although this is something that he has completely denied, he said that he simply wanted to show his appreciation to the fans after the Forest comeback left us, and him, stunned.
So, Cotterill is going nowhere although can the same be said of Dave Nugent?
‘Links’ with a move away are nothing new with him, nor are ‘reports’ that Blackpool are interested in signing him.
According to The Mirror, having failed with a loan move last summer, a ‘fresh £500,000 swoop for Nugent’ is planned – with his contract ending in the summer ‘perhaps’ this is something that the club would be tempted to accept?
Then again, besides the money saved on wages – granted quite a substantial amount – would we really see much benefit from a departure before his contract ends, although I still very much doubt that he will sign a new one.
‘If’ The Nuge did move on perhaps that would be the final straw that broke the camels back for Cotts though…
