Clearly ‘moving on’ is not an option!?

Sorry to bring up this topic again but it would ‘seem’ that, for some reason, we – well I say we, as in PFC, but I mean we as in Steve Cotterill – refuse to admit defeat in the ‘pursuit’, which is rapidly becoming stalking, of a player…

I am not sure how much clearer Burnley can make it that Martin Paterson ‘is not for sale’ but the message just does not sink in does it!

Having seen countless bids rejected, the last of which was a day or so back, ‘word on the street’ this morning came through, telling me, ‘Pompey to be in for Pat AGAIN.’

This is also now being reported in various media outlets…

The one ‘plus’ of this is that it is said that this really will be one ‘final improved bid’ above the previously rejected offers, the last of which was £2.5m.

As said yesterday I think we have wasted enough time and effort ‘stalking’ the Burnley man, if he wanted to leave would he not – as happens in the modern game – have expressed a desire to do so, and would Burnley not have given more indication that they would let him go?

Of course everyone has a ‘price’ but…

Like I have previously said, he has a track record at this level but his injury record, and lack of goals, in recent years troubles me when spending so much money – still money I am not convinced we should.

Burnley will ‘probably’ reject this ‘final offer’ again, so more time would have been wasted and we will be none the closer to ‘landing’ the striker that we desperately need!

To be honest, despite the advantages mentioned countless times, I am becoming less convinced – for the money that ‘might’ eventually be paid – he is the answer anyway now…
