Kevin-Prince Boateng’s chances of playing in the world cup have moved a step closer after he was named in Ghana’s 30-man provisional world cup squad – although he does still need his final Fifa approval to switch allegiances from Germany.

Former Pompey players Sulley Muntari and Quincy are also in the initial 30, along with former transfer targets John Mensah and Stephan Appiah.
