As with every game I want Pompey to win, which if the Blues manage this against Ipswich in this 3rd round replay at Fratton would set up a 4th round meeting with fellow south coast side Bournemouth at the end of the month.
Like I’ve said, and many of us have expressed our views on when talking (on here) or with mates etc., promotion out of league two is the priority and a win would leave us facing a further fixture pile up BUT all things considered I’d want a win above all else though if we ‘give a good account’ of ourselves I’ll take that!
The recent record against Ipswich in the cup is good as we’ve won 2 of the 3-matches previously played with the other, obviously the original tie at Portman Road, drawn – this will be the first cup-tie between the side at the Park.
Having only beaten a ‘higher ranked’ side in the FA cup once in the last 16-matches though, with 9 lost and 5 draw, and (apparently, not that I was around) not beating a side a couple of leagues higher since beating Birmingham in 1909 I think it’s fair to say Ipswich will be ‘the favourites’ but I fancy us to win…
