Best of luck to Eduardo

I have literally just got home from the Pompey game, its been a bloody long day, but a cracking day on the whole – shame about the game, but at least we won! – so I will go into this more tomorrow, but one thing has been the focus of a lot of attention, talk and debate today… and that is what appears to be a horrific career ending injury to Arsenal striker Eduardo.

Much like the situation with Gazza this week, I know this issue does not concern Pompey in many ways despite plenty of links between Pompey and Arsenal over the years, but I do think there is a good relationship between to two clubs and the fans, not to mention the fact that my youngest brother is an Arsenal fan – so clearly I have an interest in Arsenal – so I was very saddened to hear of his most probable career ending injury?

I did not see the game, just tiny parts of it whilst in the Brewers prior to our game – the pub erupted when Arsenal came from behind to go ahead though – but virtually everyone that you came across mentioned it, and those that did see it say is was really bad, bad enough for the TV cameras not to replay it…

I do not care who the player is, or who he plays for I do not like to see horrific injuries like this, or wish them upon anyone no mater how good or bad they are, and in all fairness there are few better than Eduardo.

Some of the horrific things that go in the world and so on do put football into perspective and although you cannot really use this as an excuse to justify the money that is paid to footballers in a small way it does show just how short a career could be, and this looks like being the case now for this most talented of Croatian footballers with a truly outstanding goalscoring record and a ratio of goals to shots that few can better.

I sincerely do wish the fella all the best of luck and do hope that he can make a complete recovery but the early signs are – going on what I have been told and what Arsene Wenger has apparently said – that his career is on hold indefinitely, but more than likely over…

PLAY UP POMPEY & BEST OF LUCK TO EDUARDO!
