Dave Nugent came on at half time against Ipswich and did change the game, his pace, movement and mobility caused all sorts of problems for them in the 2nd half and his goal proved the winner, but David James did the business again for us at the other end didn’t he – showing once again he is still the top English keeper in the country, after making 3 fantastic saves.

And Harry Redknapp remains convinced that new England boss Fabio Capello should look no further than James as his no.1: ‘I have never seen anyone as dedicated.

‘He made three saves against Ipswich no-one else would have done. He has got everything.

‘Their fans were singing ‘England’s number four’ – well I would like to see the other three’.

My thoughts on James remain the same as they have been for the past 2 years, there is no better English keeper around.

We have a lot of fantastic keepers, such as Scott Carson, Ben Foster, Chris Kirkland and Paul Robinson but none should be picked ahead of James. He is 37, but so what, unless you knew this you wouldn’t know! He is as fit, mobile, agile and most importantly as good as ever – in fact better.

A fella that I feel could surprise a few is Man City’s Joe Hart? I have this feeling that he could be making the England squad sooner rather than later, but he would still be behind James, who has the experience and quality that England needs.

I suppose we will find out next month what Capello thinks wont we…

Speaking of James, he was pleased with his performance but progression into round 4 of the FA cup meant more to him, and he hopes that we can keep progressing, so his hope is that today’s draw will be ‘kind to us’.
