Another Pompey statement required!

Pompey having to issue statement after statement to deny claims that are made in the media is getting beyond a joke now really is it not?

Lets take these media outlets to the cleaners to prove once and for all that they do not contain any truth in their stories, or is that perhaps elements of them are true? That is my only concern about our constant reactions to claims made – these claims keep harming us, so why are we not doing more to clear our name apart from merely issuing statements?

Anyway, as I had suggested would be the case, this is the latest statement – in reaction to the Benjani repayment rumours that surfaced this morning – which was of course published on the Pompey Site

PORTSMOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB STATEMENT

Contrary to inaccurate newspaper reports today Portsmouth Football Club would like to make it clear that they are not in negotiations with Manchester City for an early settlement in connection with the transfer of Benjani Mwaruwari.

Both the terms of the deal and the transfer fee remain the same as in January 2008 when originally negotiated with Manchester City, who can confirm this.

Pompey announced at the time that Manchester City paid half the agreed £7.75m deal up front, with subsequent equal payments to follow after 25, 50 and 75 appearances.
