Without question, it’s been a fairytale journey for Portsmouth in the FA Cup, with Kanu securing their Final win over Cardiff City.

The Nigerian now joins a pretty exclusive list, if such a thing exists, of scoring the only goals in the Semi-Final and Final after he capitalised on a Peter Enckelmann parry to put the Premier League side ahead, much like he did against West Brom in the previous round.

It signals Portsmouth’s first FA Cup triumph since 1939, and with the outbreak of war then, held it for 7 long years. Pompey fans will hope to emulate such a feat albeit in less hostile surroundings!

Harry Redknapp secured his first ever trophy as a manager and his assistant Tony Adams spoke to us after the game and had high acclaim for the evergreen match winner, saying he puts him up there with the greats like Dennis Bergkamp.
