When the weather conditions, or whatever other reasons, forces the postponement of a game, as the frosty weather did the Burnley game, it kind of funny how it ruins, in a way, your whole weekend.
It is amazing, in many ways, how you think ‘what am I going to do’ when there is no Pompey game to follow as part of your weekend, however you follow it.
I was due to travel to Cosham on Friday and return on Sunday, and I was going to anyway although on the advice of Richie – who works for First Great Western – I did not bother.
By not doing this it at least gave me time to relax, take it easy, catch up with some TV on the sky plus box and spend some time with my family and a friend that I had not seen much recently.
Which was good, do not get me wrong, but a weekend without football is something else.
Of course you can get through, as this happens for a couple of months each summer during seasons – although a weekend without any football, Pompey wise, is unusual and most disappointing.
Then again, in some ways, this gave us an insight into what ‘might have been’ had things gone as bad as they could have.
So, it makes you appreciate things really…
No other football was compensation for a Pompey-less weekend though, so my need for my next fix is growing!
Norwich – which I cannot attend, but will ‘hopefully’ follow somehow – and then the Fratton meeting with Scunthorpe, which will prove to be my last of the year, cannot come soon enough…
