The tickets for the semi final with West Brom are selling like hot cakes, as within 24 hours of going on sale a record number of more than 13,000 Pompey tickets were sold via Ticketmaster to season ticket holders, and blue army/junior members.

There are 550 Ticketmaster lines and they were jam packed with applicants as Peter Storrie revealed on the Pompey Site: ‘the response has been extraordinary and we’re delighted that the vast majority of season ticket holders have secured their seats for one of the biggest occasions in the club’s history.

‘The most tickets we have ever sold in one day is 4,000, which underlines why we have used Ticketmaster and employed so many operators to deal with inquiries.

‘Taking postal applications would have been unworkable considering ticket prices for adults vary from £25 to £55. And if we had sold seats from the ticket offices the queues would have stretched down to Gunwharf.

‘We have had a small number of complaints from season-ticket holders who are perhaps not used to buying their seats through Ticketmaster. We are addressing those issues as quickly as we can.

‘It is worth noting that Wembley’s policy is not to send out duplicate tickets, which means all tickets have to be sent out by recorded delivery. This contributes to the charge per transaction.

‘But we do thank supporters for their patience and are pleased that so many have managed to get their tickets within the first 24 hours of them going on sale.

‘Everyone naturally wanted to get hold of their tickets straight away, but remaining season ticket holders do still have until midnight on Saturday to do so’.

With pushing on for half the amount we have been allocated already selling out it is clear to see that these tickets will not ‘stay on the shelves for long’, season ticket holders can apply again on a first come first serve basis between Monday and Wednesday, so these 4,000 or so up for grabs will not last 5 minutes at this rate?
