The Pompey Site has confirmed that free agent Danny Webber has signed for Pompey.

The striker, who has signed a 2-year contract, joins much to Paul Hart’s ‘delight’: ‘when I found out Danny was available I asked him to come down and train with us – and I was delighted with what I saw.

‘He plays off the shoulder of defenders and gives us another attacking option.

‘I wanted to sign him when I was at Nottingham Forest, but he went to Watford. He’s another one who’s hungry with something to prove.

I know the 27-year-old former Manyoo striker has been troubled by some injuries in recent years but if he can stay ‘injury free’ and show his ‘goalscoring form’ of a few years back then in all honesty, as far as free agents go, I think that he is – goalscorer wise – the pick of the bunch linked with…

Like I say lets just wait and see at the end of the day he knows where the goal is, so it is another option, he is now our player so as long as he gives 100%, if/when called upon, what more can you ask?

To be honest I did not even know that Sheffield United had released him in the summer, but I am also slightly surprised that no one else picked him up? Which ultimately, although I want to be positive, leaves the question, why not…
