For the first time, David James has openly spoken about his desire to continue playing Premiership football. With four days remaining on his existing contract at Pompey it would now seem that Jamo sees his future elsewhere with West Brom and Wolves bound to be interested.
This leaves Pompey literally without a goalkeeper going into the new season with Liam O’Brien being away on international duty when the season starts.
James’s imminent departure will be a massive blow to Pompey with many fans seeing England’s No.1’s apparent willingness to remain at Fratton Park as a key foundation stone upon which to build a new start for the club. It will also be a disappointment to the rest of the remaining squad who without doubt would have wanted David James to be alongside them for the coming season.
