There wasn’t a shortage of interest, despite the fact that Fulham were said to be ‘favourites’, Jed Wallace has disappointed them and the likes of Ipswich to sign for Wolves.

An ‘undisclosed fee’, commonly believed to be around the £250,000 – give or take – mark of his ‘release clause’, has seen him leave for Wolves signing a 3-year contract with the championship outfit.

Hardly surprising but no less disappointing to see him exit Fratton nevertheless…

I would have expected him to remain closer to home, given how settled he always said he was in the south, so Fulham made more sense but you tend to think that Wolves presents the better chance of regular 1st team football from the off? Then again, with all due respect, that is no longer our problem is it really!

Wallace has been awesome for us, no one can deny that, and I wish him all the best for the future but that ship has sailed and as much as I wish him well for the future we now have to move on ourselves and – as a friend just said to me – I’m glad that this hasn’t dragged on and has been done and dusted sooner rather than later.

Paul Cook’s looking at many a player, Wallace leaves big boots to fill but I’ve got faith in the players he’ll bring in this summer and think he’ll bring in the players to do this.
